Critical Conditions in the Region

Russian Defense Strategic Shifts

The Ukrainian president called on America to stay receptive to supplying Kyiv with extended-distance arms. Addressing a European Union summit from the eastern front, the national leader also called for more global measures on the federation – including on the energy and atomic industries – and said he wanted Ukraine to join the EU by the end of the 2020s.

The Italian foreign minister stated that Italy will not alter its international position or its standards in response to careless statements. The Russian embassy in Rome later offered regrets for the death of a Romanian worker in the accident but used the chance to protest that the critical reaction to the statements was prejudiced toward the federation.
