Vinted Members Share Frustration About Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Social Media Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Stories
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Required Changes
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
